A little advice from us – if you are in Lisbon for business, don’t forget to take a few hours to relax. It would be a shame to miss the beautiful surroundings of the Portuguese capital and the chance to impress your colleagues.

You will impress them with your historical knowledge

Drive 29 km northwest of Lisbon to visit Sintra, a World Heritage site. This romantic village offers numerous gardens, villas, castles, and extravagant colorful palaces, surrounded by beautiful green hills overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. You will be amazed by the two conical chimneys of the 14th-century Palácio Nacional, the striking yellow Palácio da Pena, or the 8th-century Moorish Castelo dos Mouros on the Serra de Sintra.

Palácio da Pena, Estrada da Pena, 2710-609 Sintra

Castelo dos Mouros, 2710-405 Sintra

You will prove you have exquisite taste

You don’t have to be an architecture enthusiast to admire the National Palace of Queluz. About 13 km northwest of Lisbon, this former royal summer palace is one of the most luxurious palaces in Portugal. We particularly recommend the Throne Room, decorated with carvings, mirrors, and paintings. The breathtaking artworks adorning the ceiling of the Ambassadors’ Room are also overwhelming.

You will show that “work hard, play hard” really exists

Cascais, located on the Atlantic coast, 31 km west of the capital, is a peaceful, cosmopolitan resort town with a stunning coastline of varied beaches, where you can surf or sunbathe. Along the 30 km of coastline, you can chill on the beautiful beaches of Tamariz, Conceição, Rainha, or Duquesa and then end the day with heavenly seafood dishes in the streets of the historic center.

You will amaze them with how effortlessly you live up to the hype

If you want to know where the locals hang out, hop in your car and drive 13 km south over the Ponte 25 de Abril, a bridge reminiscent of the Golden Gate Bridge. Costa da Caparica has a relaxed atmosphere, beautiful beaches, and great surf spots. During the day, the sandy coastline welcomes colorful boats selling freshly caught fish. At night, there are cool beach parties.
